A man has been rushed to hospital and his motorcycle is in pieces after a nasty crash near Mudgeeraba on Sunday.
The rider, aged 19, has serious chest and leg injuries after his black Yamaha motorbike collided with a gold Toyota Landcruiser station wagon on Hardys Road near Gold Coast Springbrook Road at about 10.13am, a Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said.
The man was treated at the scene by paramedics before being rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
The driver of the vehicle involved, an 18-year-old Mudgeeraba woman, was not injured in the crash.
She is assisting police with investigations
Pictures captured at the scene show the motorbike reduced to a pile of debris and left lying on its side in the middle of the intersection.
The force of the impact tore the front wheel free, which sat several metres away from the rest of the rest of the bike.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the forensic crash unit was investigating the incident.
Witnesses, particularly motorists with relevant dashcam footage, are urged to contact police.
