There’s an old joke about escalators. It goes like this: “What happens to an escalator when it stops working? Nothing, it just stairs.”
However police on the Gold Coast are not seeing a funny side in the case of damage to an escalator at Pacific Fair last week.
Instead, they are taking steps to find the man pictured above, who they allege caused $1000 worth of damage to a protective guard on the device on August 23.
Anyone with information is asked to go next level and contact police.
RAY MAN

Staying at Broadbeach Waters, police are seeking this cool customer, who they believe may be able to assist them with their investigation into the alleged theft of a pair of designer sunnies.
Officers allege that at approximately 10.30am on August 24 the man left a store without attempting to pay for a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses valued at $288.
TURNING UP THE HEAT

At Burleigh Heads, police are turning up the heat in their investigation into the alleged theft of a blowtorch.
Officers allege that at approximately 12.30pm on August 15, the man left a Reedy Creek Rd store without attempting to pay for the tool.
Anyone who recognises the man is asked to call police.
