A man accused of triggering a three-hour police standoff on the northern Gold Coast has been identified.

Police allege Eugino Regazzoli was the man involved in the dramatic incident at a Biggera Waters service station early Sunday morning.

The 24-year-old allegedly tried to force his way inside the Brisbane Rd business at about 2.30am, before becoming violent and threatening several people including emergency services personnel.

Following ongoing negotiations, the alleged culprit was arrested at about 5.40am. He has since been charged with threatening violence.

No one was physically injured.

Mr Regazzoli was held in custody before briefly appearing in Southport Magistrates Court on Monday.

He did not make an application for bail, despite having indicated earlier in the day that he intended to.

Duty lawyer Linda Larkin said Mr Regazzoli was on parole and that it was unclear whether a return-to-prison warrant would be issued due to the public holiday.

She asked for a four-week adjournment to allow her client to apply for legal aid.

Mr Regazzoli’s case was adjourned to November 4.
