Man charged after three-hour police standoff in Biggera Waters

A 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged with threatening violence after a three-hour police standoff in northern Gold Coast this morning.

Emergency services were called to a service station in Biggera Waters along Brisbane Road in the early hours of Sunday morning with the incident allegedly drawing to a close just before 6am.

It will be alleged just after 2.30am, the man attempted to force entry into the business, before becoming violent and verbally threatening multiple people, including emergency services personnel.

Following ongoing negotiations, the man was taken into police custody at approximately 5.40am.

No one was physically injured.

He has been charged with threatening violence, was remanded in custody, and is due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow, October 7.
