THE partner of slain Gold Coast man Khalil Ibrahim has paid tribute to her “precious partner” of almost six years as a man, believed to be his employee, faces court charged with murder.
Marisol Mabansag took to social media at the weekend sharing several posts dedicated to Mr Ibrahim, 59, who was found dead at the Brisbane home of an employee last Friday.
Ms Mabansag said she had been a “real trooper” since learning of her partner’s alleged murder but added that she hoped the tragedy was “just a bad dream.”
“My life now is not the same without you,” she said in one heartbreaking post.
“Each day I miss you more my love, I’m always with you even though you went away I find myself looking back daily to so many happy days we had.”
“I have been a real trooper trying to get by the best I can. Just know even from heaven you’ll always be my man.”
A friend of the victim labelled the incident “absolutely horrific”:
“This is so not fair, he will be missed by many,” they wrote.
Mr Ibrahim’s body was discovered Friday afternoon at the Cannon Hill address – home of the accused man Jordan Theodore Van Doorn – when police arrived to conduct a welfare check.
Emergency crews attempted to resuscitate the critically injured father-of-two but he died at the scene due to his significant injuries.
Mr Van Doorn, 29, was charged with murder in the early hours of Saturday morning after being apprehended by police in Carina.
His matter was briefly mentioned in Brisbane Magistrates Court later that morning.
Van Doorn, who the court heard was employed by Mr Ibrahim, did not appear and an application for bail for a murder charge cannot be made before a Magistrate.
The man’s lawyer Nick Crawford said outside court his client would fight the charge.
“The only thing I’ll say is there’s some significant self-defence issues with this matter and the allegation is that the deceased attended my client’s address,” Mr Crawford said.
