A GOLD Coast man shot multiple times by police after allegedly rushing at officers with a knife has faced court on crutches and wearing a moon boot.
Joshua John Kleeman, who was rushed to hospital after being shot by officers several times in August, faced two charges of possessing a knife in a public place and one each of serious assault of police, obstructing police, going armed so as to cause fear, possessing drug utensils, and being drunk in a public place at Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old relied on his crutches and a moon boot for support to walk out of court. He declined to comment when approached by the Bulletin.
It will be alleged Kleeman was armed with a knife when he rushed at officers who were conducting a welfare check at an Upper Coomera property on August 21.
Officers shot Kleeman several times before the father of two was taken to hospital, where he remained in a serious condition for more than a week.
The court on Wednesday was told Kleeman required an adjournment to make a fresh court liaison application.
He has not yet indicated a plea to the charges.
Kleeman’s matter will be heard again on November 16, and he will remain on bail.
