A man who allegedly attacked the mum of a toddler and another man in a Robina park has been granted bail.

Harley Daniel Osborne appeared via videolink in Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday on three charges including assaulting occasioning bodily harm.

It is alleged Osborne attacked the man and the mum, who was with her toddler, on Olympus Dr, Robina about 4.30pm on September 9 last year.

He has been in custody since that time.

On Tuesday morning his lawyer Giuseppe Sciacca, of QC Law, applied for bail telling the court the matter had been referred for a mental health assessment.

He provided letters confirming the transition as well as a letter from Osborne’s mum saying she would be happy for him to live with her in Kingaroy.

Police prosecutor Senior Sergeant Greg McKenzie opposed granting bail.

He told the court prosecution was concerned that Osborne was a risk of reoffending if released on bail.

Magistrate Joan White granted bail.

“My concern is he will spend more time in custody than required,” she said.

Magistrate White noted Osborne was getting treatment for his mental health conditions which he wanted to continue.

The matter was adjourned to November 14.
