A FORMER pizza worker twice pulled an 11-year-old girl into the toilets of a Gold Coast unit complex pool and sexually assaulted her, police will allege.

The 26-year-old was released from bail after he appeared in Southport Magistrates Court this week charged with rape and indecent treatment of a child under 12.

The Bulletin understands he will be contesting the charges.

Police will allege the girl and two of her friends climbed a pool fence at the Labrador unit complex to go swimming when the man joined them about 12.30pm on Friday.

He asked the girl her name and her age, police will allege.

The girl allegedly told him she was 12.

The girl and the man both went to use the unisex toilet at the pool and the girl stopped to let him go first.

Police will allege that is when the man grabbed her by the right wrist and pulled her into the toilet cubicle and closed the door.

While there, the man allegedly kissed her on the face and mouth and called her “babe”.

The girl allegedly told him to stop and was able to get out of the toilet cubicle.

Police will allege the girl told her friends what happened and the man left.

The man allegedly returned to the pool complex about 15 minutes later and went to the toilets.

The girl followed him, police will allege.

It will be alleged the man pulled the girl into the toilets again, and shut and locked the door.

The man then allegedly tried to force oral sex on her and digitally raped her.

Police will allege the girl told him to “stop” and he said “no”.

One of the girl’s friends was allegedly filming the toilet door.

The girl exited the toilet and allegedly told her friend the man had tried to rape her.

The girls allegedly tried to hold the door to the toilet closed but the man got out and ran into another apartment.

The girls started to scream for help and neighbours came to assist them.

Police were called and the man was arrested.

Police allege the man was caught on CCTV at the complex.

The man allegedly told police he has recently quit his job as pizza worker for a position elsewhere.

Magistrate Catherine Pirie on Monday granted the man bail with conditions including he live at a home in Southport, he report to police once a week, he not contact the alleged victim or her friends, he surrenders his passport and he does not approach an international terminal.

Magistrate Pirie adjourned the matter to October 12.
