Four people have been charged after allegedly speeding at more than 200km/h during a dramatic pursuit from Logan to the Gold Coast.

Police spotted an allegedly stolen BMW in Logan on Saturday, tracking it to Mount Gravatt and then south along the M1.

Gold Coast Chief Superintendent Craig Hanlon said the car was allegedly driven at speeds in excess of 200km/h, with officers deciding it was “too risky to interact with the vehicle” while it was on the motorway.

It is alleged the stolen car was driven by a 20-year-old man and had another three people – an 18-year-old man, 20-year-old woman, and 18-year-old woman – as passengers.

Supt Hanlon said the car allegedly took the Nerang Broadbeach Rd exit after police deployed a tyre deflation device.

He said the group kept driving to Bundall even after all four tyres had popped.

Police allege the 18-year-old male passenger tried to flee on foot when the car had stopped, attempting to get into another stolen vehicle before being “rounded up” by the dog squad in a nearby yard. He was soon arrested.

Supt Hanlon said the 20-year-old man also tried to flee but was chased down by officers.

The two women were arrested inside the car.

Jett Jay-mz Armstrong, 20, has been charged with several offences including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and unlicensed driving.

Zane George De La Cruz, 18, was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Isabel Dodemaide, 20, and Sianae Ngahura Davis, 18, were charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle. Ms Dodemaide also faces two charges of possessing dangerous drugs.

All four were due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Monday.

Mr Armstrong did not appear when his case was briefly mentioned. Ms Dodemaide was granted bail, while Mr De La Cruz’s bid for freedom was refused.

All of their cases were adjourned to July 29.

Ms Davis’ case was due to be mentioned on Monday afternoon.

Supt Hanlon said it was “very fortunate” that no one was injured.

“Driving at high speeds is significantly risky,” he said.

“Over 25 per cent of people in Queensland lose their lives directly from driving at excessive speeds.

“We deployed tyre deflation devices, we apprehended all four (alleged) offenders, we located two stolen vehicles and no one was injured … that’s a remarkable result.”
