A ute has been smashed to pieces and a young driver charged following a nasty crash on the northern Gold Coast.
The Mazda ute was travelling along Foxwell Road at Coomera just before 11pm on Saturday when police allege it struck a light pole near Oaky Creek Road and spun out of control.
Photos of the aftermath show the obliterated ute with it’s cabin crumpled and all four wheels bent out of shape.
The force of the impact had torn the tray from the rear of the vehicle, it was left lying in a heap in the middle of the busy road.
Personal items including what appear to be a shoe and a rugby ball can be seen among the crash site which spanned approximately 50 metres.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman said officers attended the crash and breath tested the male driver. He allegedly returned a blood alcohol concentration (B. A. C) of 0.126, more than twice the legal limit.
A 20-year-old man has been charged with driving under the influence of liquor and is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on February 28.
