A security guard tasked with protecting upmarket homes across the Gold Coast is warning the youth crime epidemic is escalating with kids coming armed and ready to “injure or kill”.

Wayne Heneker from Gold Coast Protection Division (GCPD) says his team are now fearful of being attacked as they respond to callouts, after recent encounters with kids carrying firearms and weapons.

“We weren’t worried like this before, we wouldn’t even consider if they (the kids) would have guns. Now, who’s to say we’re not going to open the side gate of a residents’ home on a patrol and be sliced with a knife” he said.

“It’s not a case of if it’s going to happen but when. In the last six months we have seen these children are coming ready and willing to use lethal force”.

The gang were seen speeding off in a blue BMW SUV, travelling at more than 100km/h down suburban streets on the wrongside of the road.

No one was injured during the attempted break in’s which have been reported to police.
