One of the men accused of killing Raymond Harris threw his partner against a wall after taking a phone call from the Beenleigh dad the night he was murdered, a court was told.

Kyle Webb became angry about an hour before Mr Harris was stabbed in Surfers Paradise on September 23, 2020, a committal hearing in the Southport Magistrates Court was told on Wednesday.

Witness Jaiden West said he heard Webb on a phone call with Mr Harris and Emil Ackerman, the brother of his girlfriend Amy Anne Ackerman.

After getting off the phone, Webb threw Amy Ackerman against the wall in a Peninsular Drive unit before telling her to call her mother and threatening her brother’s life, it was alleged in court.

Mr West claims Webb told Amy Ackerman: “Ring your mum right now and tell her the reason her son is going to die.”

He said that not long after the phone call, Webb left the unit, followed by three other people facing charges at the committal hearing.

Mr West told the court that Webb said he was “sick of c**** who think they can f*** with me” as he left the unit.

Mr West was questioned about why he did not include the phone call and alleged threats in a statement to police made in the days following Mr Harris’s death.

“You have to remember I was highly intoxicated,” he said.

Mr West claimed in court that he only remembered the threat when he saw Amy Ackerman in the courtroom.

Webb, Jye Sebastian Webb-Italia and Jarod James Miller are accused of “hunting” down and stabbing Mr Harris in Orchid Ave about 9pm on September, 23, 2020.

They have been charged with murder and three counts of common assault.

Ackerman is charged with accessory after the fact for allegedly helping Webb flee to Brisbane. She was allegedly in a relationship with Webb at the time.

Webb-Italia was committed to stand trial on Tuesday afternoon for murder and three counts of common assault.

In an emotionally charged second day of the hearing, a family member of Mr Harris was led out of the courtroom by police after screaming obscenities at Ackerman.

“Die bitch,” the woman yelled.

Earlier in the hearing, Emil Ackerman told the court he heard Mr Harris talking about how he had been robbed of cocaine by Mr West. Another witness claimed it was Emil Ackerman who said he had been robbed.

Webb was committed to stand trial for murder, three counts of common assault and a single count of drug trafficking between May 21 and September 25, 2020.

Miller was committed to stand trial for murder, three counts of common assault.

Amy Ackerman was committed to stand trial for accessory to murder after the fact and drug trafficking between May 21 and September 25, 2020.

All four are expected to stand trial in the Supreme Court in the coming months.

Following the committal hearing, one of Mr Harris’ closest friends Chase Curphery told reporters: “I would just like everyone to pretty much put the knives down. There is no need for violence. Look what happened with Ray, he is a loving father, loving family.”

Day 1: ‘Sorry miss … someone’s gonna bleed’: Victim’s final word

Moments before Raymond Harris was fatally stabbed he was thrown out of a popular Surfers Paradise venue where he told a worker “someone was going to bleed”, a court has been told.

The 27-year-old was kicked out of the Surfers Paradise Beer Garden for swearing and talking aggressively on the phone and disturbing other patrons on September 23, 2020.

Tamika Dooley, who had been the one to kick him out, told the committal hearing in the Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday he apologised to her as he left.

Ms Dooley said Mr Harris told her someone owed him money and then mimed snorting cocaine.

She said Mr Harris told her: “Sorry miss, this guy owes me money … going to take it down to the beach and someone is going to bleed.”

The committal hearing is for four people charged in relation to the death of the Beenleigh dad in Surfers Paradise on September 23, 2020.

Raymond Harris, 27, was stabbed to death on Orchid Ave about 9pm on September, 23, 2020.

Kyle Jack Webb, Jye Sebastian Webb-Italia and Jarod James Miller are accused by police of “hunting” down Mr Harris before the attack. The three have been charged with murder and three counts of common assault.

Amy Anne Ackerman is also charged with accessory after the fact.

All four are alleged to have been at a Peninsular Drive unit prior to the attack.

On Tuesday, Ackerman’s brother Emil Ackerman revealed to the court he had been with Mr Harris at the venue Steampunk in Surfers Paradise the night of his murder.

He said of the defendants, he knew Webb, who was dating his sister.

Mr Ackerman said Mr Harris was speaking about how a man named Jaiden West, also known as Chaos, had robbed him of cocaine.

The court was told Miller also goes by the nickname Chaos.

Mr Ackerman said he heard Mr Harris having a heated phone conversation with Webb the night of his death.

Mr Ackerman told the court he was with Mr Harris when he first saw Webb, Webb-Italia and Miller approach their group.

“I was sitting on a bench facing the beer garden, and I looked to the right and I saw the group approaching and they had at least two knives,’ he said.

“That is when I stood up and Raymond was in front of me and he got assaulted and obviously stabbed.”

He also described how all three accused men punched and kicked Mr Harris and said it was not until after the initial assault that he saw the man with the face tattoo holding a knife.

Mr Ackerman was asked why he did not mention the group was armed in his first statement.

“To be honest from the trauma I have blocked out a lot of it so I can’t answer that with complete certainty,” he said.

Tom Edmey, who was also with Mr Harris the night of his murder, told the court on Tuesday that it was Mr Ackerman who said he had been robbed of cocaine.

Mr Edmey said when the group of the accused approached, he thought Webb or Webb-Italia had weapons.

“When Raymond ran out, I was behind him and he ran into all three of them and I just seen him drop,” he said.

Webb-Italia’s barrister Alistair McDougall, instructed by TWC Lawyers, told the court he did not need to question any witnesses further and consented to his client being committed to trial.

Magistrate Jane Bentley committed Webb-Italia to face trial in the Supreme Court in the coming months.

The committal hearing for Webb, Miller and Ackerman continues.

Mr Harris, 27, was stabbed to death on Orchid Ave about 9pm on September, 23, 2020.

Kyle Jack Webb, Jye Sebastian Webb-Italia and Jarod James Miller are accused of “hunting” down Mr Harris before the attack. The three have been charged with murder.

Amy Anne Ackerman is also charged with accessory after the fact.

All four are alleged to have been at a Peninsular Drive unit prior to the attack.

On Tuesday – the first day of a two-day hearing – Luca Rosemeyer told the court he had no recollection of talking to police.

“I was heavily under the influence of medications at the time,’ he said.

Mr Rosemeyer said he been heavily using benzodiazepines at the time so his recollection was ‘spotty’.

He said he did not have any recollection of the night, including if he was in a Surfers Paradise unit.

Defence barrister Simon Lewis, instructed by Dib Associates, asked if he did not remember because he was not at the Peninsula Drive unit.

Mr Rosemeyer replied: “I am unsure. I do not remember.”

The second witness, Liam Taylor, was also having similar memory problems, claiming he could not remember the night of the stabbing or giving a statement to police due to his heavy drug use which included smoking ice.

“I don’t really remember anything from that night. I had gone on a bender three or four months after that pretty hard,” he said.

He said he remembered picking up his phone from the police but did not know how police got it.

Mr Taylor said police had told him he had a bowie knife in a Peninsular Drive unit the night of the stabbing.

“I believe that was half the reason I was called in but I can’t really remember,” he said.

Asked if anyone else at the unit had a knife, Mr Taylor replied: “You don’t really hold a knife out when you are around people unless you are going to stab them.

“You don’t really see people armed with knives until it’s too late.”

Mr Taylor said reading back his statement had not sparked any independent memories apart from getting an Uber to Coomera that night.

The committal hearing, which is expected to last for two day with eight witnesses to be called, continues.
