A Gold Coast man has been charged with several offences after he was “acting aggressive” with a knife at a retail store.

Police were called to a Lutwyche Road in north Brisbane electronics store around 4.35pm on Sunday after a 21-year-old Coomera man was allegedly acting aggressively inside the business.

A police spokesman said he left the store and jumped into an allegedly stolen sedan with a 39-year-old Mount Gravatt East woman.

Police allege the car was stolen from an Underwood home on January 26.

The pair fled in the car and allegedly were driving dangerously before crashing into another car at the intersection of Gympie Road and Murphy Road in Chermside around 4.50pm.

The couple in the other car who were a 69-year-old man and a 67-year-old woman were not seriously injured.

A police spokesman said Polair was used to track the car before it crashed, leading to the rapid arrest of the people who abandoned the car and fled on foot.

Police then searched the stolen car and allegedly found a quantity of dangerous drugs which were believed to be methylamphetamine.

The Coomera man was charged with 13 offences which included one count of going armed so as to cause fear, dangerous driving, evade police, drive without a license while suspended and three counts of stealing and two counts of receiving tainted property.

He was denied police bail and was due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.

The Mount Gravatt East woman was charged with 16 offences which included six counts of stealing, four counts of receiving tainted property, two counts each of enter dwelling and commit and enter premises and commit an indictable offence.

She was due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on February 21.

Some of the charges relate to alleged recent property offences committed in the Brisbane area.
