14-year-old boy charged over alleged armed robbery attempts at train station and shopping centre

Police have arrested a teenager after attempted armed robberies at a train station and a Northern Gold Coast shopping centre. See where and when.

Police have arrested a teenage boy after two alleged attempted armed robberies across the Northen Gold Coast.

Officer were called to the Helensvale train station around 1am on Thursday after a motorist reported he was threatened at knifepoint while waiting for his Tesla electric vehicle to charge.

Police say two males approached the driver and demanded he get out of his car.

When he refused, the pair allegedly turned violent kicking the side mirror and the charging port damaging the vehicle.

The men were then seen speeding off in a white Holden Captiva. Police say that vehicle was reported stolen on December 8 from a home in Eagleby.

About an hour after the incident at Helensvale train station, the same vehicle was captured on CCTV pulling-up at Harbour Town in Biggera Waters. Police allege two males, one armed with a knife, left the vehicle and broke into a fruit shop.

The till was grabbed from the counter and thrown onto the ground outside the business. The males then got back in the alleged stolen car and drove off. They were last seen heading west on the Gold Coast Highway towards the M1.

Over the weekend police arrested a 14-year-old boy. He has been charged with two counts of attempted armed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and breach of bail. The juvenile has also been charged over separate and unrelated matters including fraud and wilful damage. He faced Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday morning.

Police are investigating another incident allegedly involving the stolen Holden Captiva. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers or make a report online. No one was physically injured during the incidents.
