Hotel guest makes shock find in swimming pool

A woman was laying by the pool at a five-star Queensland hotel when she made a shocking discovery that did not seem to bother other guests nearby.

A woman has been left shocked after she discovered a crocodile laying at the bottom of a five-star hotel pool just metres from other guests.

Lisa Keller was staying at the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort in Port Douglas, Far North Queensland, when she spotted the animal on Saturday.

The content creator, left stunned, quickly grabbed her phone to record it.

“I don’t want to alarm anyone but there’s a crocodile in the Sheraton pool,” she said in the video shared to Instagram and TikTok.

“Sheraton Mirage. Baby croc.”

Ms Keller later shared another clip to provide an update, showing other guests lounging nearby on sunbeds either with no fear or they were none the wiser.

“Update: No a single person cares,” she wrote.

Hotel guests were told by staff to stay out of the two-hectare lagoon-style pool until the animal could be safely captured and relocated.

Social media users were similarly horrified by the find.

“You definitely need to alarm someone,” one wrote.

“So you can’t swim anywhere in Queensland,” a second person joked.

“As a child I always checked the pool for a croc or shark and people thought I was crazy! Who is crazy now?!” another added.

The Sheraton Mirage is a popular resort in the state’s far north. The price of hotel rooms range from $400 to $1900 per night.

While concerning, finding a crocodile in a pool or an unusual area in Queensland is not a rare sight.

In summer last year, two boys swimming found a baby crocodile at the bottom of the family pool after flooding from Cyclone Jasper.

More recently in July a reported 3.2 metre crocodile was spotted numerous times by locals at Noosa Spit, a popular swimming area.

Fisherman James Graham and pal Kai Tapley were stunned to see the animal so far south, given they mainly live in the state’s north.

“(We were) fishing and looking at the sonar … I saw the shape come through. I had a look at it again. I said, ‘that doesn’t look right.’ I had a closer look,” Mr Tapley told Sunrise.

Mr Graham said it could not be mistaken for anything else.

“So, then you go ‘that doesn’t make sense, but what else could it be? It’s not a turtle. It’s not a dolphin. It’s not a mermaid. It’s a croc’,” he added.

“So, of course, you go ‘how is that possible?’ But that’s what we saw.”
