With this year marking the quarter-point in the century, we have gone through the archives to name the dream teams from your local footy club over the last 25 years.
In the first edition in our ongoing series, with the help of former coaches and club officials, we have named the Palm Beach Currumbin Lions Team of the Century so far.
Palm Beach Currumbin club president Anne Cornish has been at the club for more than two decades and revealed what made the team so special to her.
“I think it’s about the community spirit and the people and the success, it’s a very successful club and I love it,” she said.
“We’ve got a really great culture and that’s been the envy of other clubs, I always treat (club members) like family and everyone feels like they belong, there are no factions we’re all one.”
Since the turn of the century the Lions have picked up six major senior premierships - including two QAFL premierships - had several players win league best and fairests and 10 players drafted by the Gold Coast Suns.
Check out the dream team below.
