THE Surfers Paradise Surf Live Saving Club are tonight mourning the loss of former President Danny Jones who passed away on Sunday following a brief battle with illness.
From Nippers president to Club President, Director of Surf Sports, Club Secretary and Gear Steward, Jones wore many hats and did so with passion.
TREVOR HENDY WELCOMES SON INTO UNIQUE CLUB
A statement released by the Surfers Paradise Surf Club Management Committee on Tuesday night lauded the impact of Jones on both the club and the surf lifesaving movement.
“Most of you may not have been aware of Danny’s recent health issues, because he chose to keep them private whilst maintaining his very active involvement in the surf club,” it read.
“Whether it was helping manage club affairs as Secretary, to providing his considerable building expertise to those driving the current club renovations, or in maintaining his Patrol Captain obligations, he never put his health problems before the love that he had for this movement and this surf club.
“He was very passionate about this club and had a huge appetite for putting his hand up to help, regardless of what was needed.

“He always strived for getting things done 100% right and wore his heart on his sleeve if things weren’t.
“He was the epitome of what the movement is about.
“He was loyal, a man true to his word, a really great friend to those who cared to get to know him, and he will be sorely missed by all of us who were lucky to say he was one of our mates.
“We will miss you Danny, you will always be part of our family.”
The club also offered condolences to wife Raewyn, and to Harrison, Zoe, Alison and Glen.
