The Griffith University Colleges Knights in Ashmore are the Gold Coast’s most affordable junior rugby club in 2020.
The club, which is set to enter male teams in six age divisions and female teams in three, led the region in junior registration fees in all but one age bracket.
Players in the under-eight to under-12 bracket will pay $213.20 for the season while players in the under-13 to under-17 bracket will pay just three dollars more.
Knights vice-president Josh Scott said the fee covered GCDRU, QRU and Rugby AU fees and would provide shorts, socks, a training jersey, a club polo shirt, playing jersey, first aid, physio and a complimentary sausage sizzle after Thursday trainings.
“Without juniors the club won’t thrive so we’re proud to offer the best value for money on the Coast,” Scott said.
“Offering the most affordable junior program is something we’ve tried to do since the inception of our juniors.
“In 2020 we formed a junior committee dedicated to seeing the Knights get back to having a strong junior club once more.
“This year our teams have grown from four to almost fielding a team in each age division.
“If we get enough numbers for any other grades we would be happy to accommodate them.”
