Trainer Chris Anderson chasing Magic Millions 2YO Classic berth with She’s A Tigress

Trainer Chris Anderson still considers getting a runner to the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic a pipe dream but one he believes She’s A Tigress can make a reality.

CHRIS Anderson still considers getting a runner to the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic a pipe dream but one he believes She’s A Tigress can make a reality.

The two-year-old filly won Saturday’s QTIS Two-Years-Old Maiden Handicap (1100m) by two lengths without needed to extend her stride to its full range.

The Magic Millions carnival hasn’t historically been something Anderson has targeted but the successful debut of She’s A Tigress has him hopeful.

She has $11,650 in prizemoney to her name and Anderson said he will likely send She’s A Tigress to the 2YO Classic preamble, the Aquis Gold Pearl 2YO Fillies (1100m) that will carry $72,500 for the winner. It would comfortably get her a spot in the 16-horse field for the Classic.

“Her best chance is going to be over the 1100m and it gives her two weeks between runs,” Anderson said.

“Getting to the Millions is a pipe dream but it’s still an option to get there if she is good enough.

“I have never had a two-year-old (Classic) runner). I haven’t really been buying those types of horse in years gone by but last year we engaged the services of blood stock agents Steve Morley and Duncan Ramage.

“They are doing all the buying for me at the sales and they will continue that this year down at the Magic Millions yearling sales where we will be very active.

“Having a runner in the race would be fantastic.”

Anderson could end up with a small army at the $10 million race day.

The Brisbane trainer hopes to get Profit into the 3YO Guineas while he will also attempt to get Boomtown Lass and Epic Girl starts on the day.

Anderson said he was impressed by She’s A Tigress’ debut win.

“She was great. She found a nice spot and was ridden really well by Taylor Marshall,” Anderson said.

“She got a little bit of a nice passage through, pinned the ears back and put them away to dominate.

“There is still plenty of improvement to come. I put the winkers on her this morning to straighten her up a bit and I think that will improve her.”

Marshall said he was able to make the most of her start from barrier two.

“She was still very green and raw, very much inexperienced so it only add merits to the win,” Marshall said.

“She is only going to improve, and quite drastically, off the back of her win on Saturday.

“We settled in behind the speed, when we had a couple of horses in front of us to chase she really wanted to run them down.

“Once we hit the front her inexperience and greenness led to her wanting to half pull up and she got a bit lost once she hit the lead. Once the penny drops with her she will turn into a very nice horse.”
