MELBOURNE CUP-winning owner Paul Lanskey says he will press on with plans to sell the half-sister to Vow And Declare in the Magic Millions Yearling Sales despite pleas from trainer Danny O’Brien to retain it and put it straight into his stable.
Lanskey won the Cup with Vow And Declare, trained by O’Brien, earlier this month after initially breeding the gelding out of dam Gablitz who he also used to breed lot 329 of the 2020 sales.
O’Brien has asked Lanskey to avoid the sales and keep the yearling but the Noosa businessman said he will continue on to the sale.
“Danny would be very keen to have it in the stable,” Lanskey said.
“At the end of the day we thought we would take it along and see what happens. We will probably go through the sale and maybe Danny and the connections might buy it back.”

Lanskey said he had no idea how much his yearling could fetch at the sales, previously being left disappointed with the $45,000 offered for Vow And Declare at the Inglis Sales before he celebrated an incredible journey that took him to the Melbourne Cup with him.
“I have no idea what he could go for,” Lanskey said.
“There is still a strong leaning towards sprinters in Australia like Magic Millions or Golden Slipper runners.
“A horse that runs over a trip like Vow And Declare could get more interest from international buyers or even as a breeding proposition.”
