The next Melbourne Cup winner could be sold on the Gold Coast with the half-sister to Vow And Declare set to go through the ring at the 2020 Magic Millions Yearling Sales.

Melbourne Cup 2019: Vow and Declare wins by a nose

â–  THE 2020 Magic Millions will have added intrigue with the show piece event set to sell the half-sister to Melbourne Cup winner Vow And Declare.

A filly out of mare Geblitzt will go through the sales ring at January’s Magic Millions Yearling Sales, marking the first time the Bundall-based operation has had a relation of a Melbourne Cup winner go through the ring so soon after the achievement.

A spokesman for Magic Millions said it was impossible to predict how lofty the price could be on lot 329 of the 2020 sales, but believed her breeding prospects were just as good as her racing ones.

The filly, who will be sold from the same lot as Winx was, is also the full sister to stakes winner Lycurgus.

IT may have been the excitement of backing the Cup winner but Gold Coast Turf Club board member Jarrad Young has declared he is out to break his own Guiness World Record for push ups completed in an hour.

Young, 41, recorded a staggering 2813 push-ups at Matrix Boxing Gym at Ashmore last year to smash the previous record of 2682.

But he said he has his sights set on reaching 3000 and will take on the challenge in the coming months.

EVER wondered where the jockeys who aren’t racing go to watch the race that stops the nation?

At the Gold Coast Turf Club they watch it from a television inside the jockeys room while preparing for their next ride.

The Bulletin asked to go inside the rooms to watch it with the hoops and get a photo of them glued to the screen ... but it’s such sacred ground that no photos are permitted to be taken inside.

I guess we’ll never know.
