It’s not just the athletes who are the talk of Paris; it’s the influx of big name celebrities that is set to ignite the people watching Olympics.

Australian household names Margot Robbie, Nicole Kidman and Miranda Kerr are among the big names expected to get into the Olympic spirit.

Celine Dion and Lady Gaga have grabbed all the headlines surrounding the opening ceremony, but it’ll switch to the “people watching Games” when the action kicks off in Paris.

Big brands have been lining up to capitalise on the exposure. Omega is one, hosting Nicole Kidman, Cindy Crawford and her daughter Kaia Gerber.

Louis Vuitton has signed a cast of notables including Zendaya, Saoirse Ronan and Sophie Turner, and are hosting a lavish opening ceremony party.

Stranger Things star and Australian actor Dacre Montgomery will be on the ground with Speedo.

Australian singer Jessica Mauboy put her pride on display when she belted out the Australian team song Higher at the flag bearer announcement.

But she wasn’t done there. She’s sticking around to support the Matildas, along with Kidman, and taking in hockey and swimming.

Wearing a white power suit by Australian designer Toni Maticevski, and flanked by husband Themeli Magripilis, Mauboy brought a tear to the eye of many with her performance.

“I’ve been watching all their stories, getting really emotional watching their process and family,” Mauboy said. “It’s a childhood dream watching it all.

“In Sydney 2000 I was around 10 or 11 years old and thinking about that, and being here, it’s unreal.

“Being part of that history, even just lending my voice to the song, it’s about not giving up and the trials and the challenges.

“Triumphing over the pain and the sacrifices is what makes this epic. Everyone coming together with strength and power, these athletes are champions.

“The song has done spectacularly well. I feel really proud to have something Australian for our country and athletes.”

Mauboy will be in Paris until Tuesday.
