ROUND 19
Eels v Bulldogs
Thursday 19th July, ANZ Stadium, 7:50pm
RHYSE MARTIN 2RF (BULLDOGS)
I was tempted by Hopoate after his HUGE 135 points without a single try last week, but in the end the decision was ‘GOD 2.0’ as I’ve been calling him. This kid is the real deal, averaging 80.29PPG this season, playing 80 minutes and kicking goals. What more could you want … Oh, a matchup against the team conceding the MOST points to 2RF-eligible players this season. Delicious.
Other options: Will Hopoate, Jarryd Hayne, Marata Niukore, Mitchell Moses
Sharks v Raiders
Friday 20th July, Southern Cross Group Stadium, 6:00pm
VALENTINE HOLMES CTW | FLB (SHARKS)
What an incredible run of form Val Holmes has been the past seven weeks. Scores of 100, 40, 110, 88, 66, 64 and 75 for an average of 77.57PPG have Holmes as the highest scorer of any CTW in the game in that period. This week, Holmes gets a matchup against the much improved Raiders, but what hasn’t improved is how many points they concede to outside backs … Get on.
Other options: Jesse Ramien, Chad Townsend, Jordan Rapana, Josh Hodgson
Broncos v Panthers
Friday 20th July, Suncorp Stadium, 7:55pm
JAMAYNE ISAAKO CTW (BRONCOS)
Isaako had his first score under 40 since round eight last week, but, we have word from Wayne Bennett that the superstar cheapie of 2018 will be playing at fullback this week — with Darius Boyd moving to centre. Isaako at fullback with the goalkicking duties at Suncorp on a Friday night against a team in the Panthers that have conceded truckloads of points to fullbacks the past four rounds.
Other options: Anthony Milford, Viliame Kikau, Nathan Cleary, Josh Mansour
Knights v Titans
Saturday 21st July, McDonald Jones Stadium, 3:00pm
JAI ARROW 2RF (TITANS)
Arrow has had a breakout season in 2018 averaging 68.8PPG, to become one of the best players in SuperCoach, full stop. After an ultra-annoying week’s rest that left many with an AE score, he should be reenergized and ready to take on a Knights team without Ponga, Slade Griffin and Sione Mata’utia to name a few. The pipe dream is he plays the full 80 minutes where he will undoubtedly score 80+ points, but even in 60 minutes over his last two matches he’s scored 90 and 105 points.
Other options: Ash Taylor, Michael Gordon, Ryan James, Connor Watson
Wests Tigers v Rabbitohs
Saturday 21st July, ANZ Stadium, 5.30pm
ROBBIE FARAH HOK (TIGERS)
Farah is absolutely on FIRE since returning to his beloved Tigers, with scores of 92 and 97 but this one provides that thing we like to call a ‘revenge game’ against the team that chose (rightly or wrongly) to not play him this season behind Damien Cook. On top of that, Farah’s career average against the Rabbitohs is 73PPG from 14 previous meetings with a high score of 127. Nice.
Other options: Esan Marsters, Cody Walker, Angus Crichton, Damien Cook
Cowboys v Dragons
Saturday 21st July, 1300Smiles Stadium, 7:35pm
GARETH WIDDOP 5/8 (DRAGONS)
Widdop’s last five weeks have been filled with hair dye, lots of goals and some indifferent team form but he has still found ways to average in the 50’s. This could be the week he explodes. Traditionally the Cowboys away is a very tough assignment, but recent form points to halves bettering their season averages. Ben Hunt is also an option here.
Other options: Ben Hunt, Paul Vaughan, Tim Lafai, Jason Taumalolo
Warriors v Storm
Sunday 22nd July, Mt Smart Stadium 2:00pm
SHAUN JOHNSON HFB (WARRIORS)
The matchup with the Storm is not a nice one for attacking players, but I’m thinking that may in fact lead the ‘masses’ to steer clear of the man with undoubtedly the highest upside on his home track at Mt Smart. SJ is a little down on form, but class is always there and the guy can seriously pile on the points when hot.
Other options: Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, Cameron Munster, Cameron Smith, Felise Kaufusi
Sea Eagles v Roosters
Sunday 15th July, Lottoland, 4:10pm
TOM TRBOJEVIC FLB (SEA EAGLES)
I’m tempted, in fact almost certainly going to captain Turbo this weekend. His record in Sunday matches at Lottoland is just plain ridiculous, and off the back of a strong Origin series I just can’t see him doing anything other than returning to the form that had him as the NUMBER ONE overall point scorer in SuperCoach as recently as last season … Even against the Roosters.
Other options: James Tedesco, Latrell Mitchell, Blake Ferguson, Jake Trbojevic
Good luck! Will this be the week where someone takes home a huge wad of cash? Let’s hope so.
