NRL SuperCoach: Buy, Hold and Sell - Round 19

FORMER SuperCoach NRL — presented by hipages — champion Dave Von Kotze identifies nine POD-alicious trade options for those looking to zig while everyone else zags this week.

Anthony Milford ($522,000/ 6.2 per cent ownership)

After stinking it up for the majority of the season, Milford looks as if he is heating up again and recent scores of 106, 62 and 71 have left him with the highest three-game average of any other five-eighth option and a breakeven of 58. He will come up against some pretty decent opposition over the next two weeks in the form of the Panthers and Sharks but both games will be at Suncorp Stadium.

Robbie Farah ($522,500/ 3.5 per cent ownership)

With under 4 per cent ownership, SuperCoaches not running with the red hot hooker combination of Cook and Smith may want to get involved in the resurgence of Robbie Farah. Posting scores of 92 and 97 since re-donning the Tigers jersey, Farah has been heavily involved in the high-scoring attacking stats and is sitting with a three-game average of 84. He has a breakeven of 2 so those interested coaches will need to make the trade this week.

CHEAPIE BIBLE: Trent Copeland’s best from the bargain bin

Angus Crichton ($635,600/ 16.3 per cent ownership)

Just outside POD range but has to come under serious contention for the run home with the in-form Bunnies. Crichton is flying high with a five-game average of 75 and his lowest score in the past six matches is 59 so even though he is expensive he is proving that he could be worth the cash. He has a breakeven of 79 so potential owners don’t have to make the move this week but he will play his next four at ANZ Stadium and come up against the Tigers and Eels over the next fortnight.

Josh Papalii ($609,800/ 3.9 per cent ownership)

Papalii has been a ripping POD for those who have had him since he has been playing at lock. He is another who receives high marks for his consistency not scoring below 50 in the last nine games. If he can maintain his current four-game average of 75 in the number thirteen jumper, he will do some damage as a POD for owners. He will take on the Sharks this weekend with a breakeven of 98.

NRL SuperCoach Play of the Week: Round 18 - Issac Luke

Cameron Munster ($594,800/ 15.3 per cent ownership)

A lacklustre 14 against the Roosters during round sixteen has left Munster with a massive breakeven of 105 this week, however, prior to that stinker he was the form five-eighth in the competition with a seven-game average of 75. If he continues to spearhead the Storm left-side attack he could be the required arsenal to finish the season with. He will take on the Warriors (A) and the Raiders (H) in his next two matches and also has dual FLB/5/8 flexibility.

Jesse Ramien ($555,300/ 4.4 per cent ownership)

Six tries and a try assist in his last five matches have left this big strong unit with the second highest five-game average of any CTW in the business. Mix that pointscoring ability with less than five per cent ownership and you are left with a POD-hunters dream. He has a high breakeven of 82 but will play two of his next three matches at home against the Raiders and Sea Eagles with a match up against the Broncos at Suncorp in the middle. The force is strong in this one.

Jordan Rapana ($479,700/ 5.4 per cent ownership)

Returning from injury last weekend Rapana definitely had a crack and excited potential owners as he nearly hit triple figures with 95 points. There is certainly a case to bring him in namely the fact that he will play the first three weeks of head-to-head finals at home and also because he’s Jordan Rapana, however, prior to last week he was getting around with a three-game average of 45.

David Klemmer ($504,100/ 2.1 per cent ownership)

Klemmer has held together a six-game average of 62 despite being involved in the Blues campaign and with Woods now at the Shire, at just over $500,000 Klemmer could have some value as a POD. If he can lock down 60-65 minutes for the remainder of the season, with his strong PPM there is potential. Looking at last season as a yard stick we see that he finished the year on a high note with a final seven-game average of 71. He has a breakeven of 52 so potential owners aren’t forced into a decision this week.

Paul Vaughan ($449,400/ 6.9 per cent ownership)

Vaughan was sensational last weekend posting a season-high score of 90 and racking up 62 of those points from quality base stats. His work rate is never an issue churning his points out weekly with a PPM around 1, however, his minutes haven’t been consistent and this may deter some coaches. With the Dragons not firing as they did earlier in the season and Origin now in the rear view mirror, Vaughan could be called upon for bigger minutes and if he can lock away 55 minutes each week, at under $450,000 could produce the goods. Vaughan has a breakeven of 44 but possibly one to hold and see how many minutes he plays this week against the Cowboys.
