IT’S been largely smooth sailing for the Titans over pre-season but they finally hit troubled waters this week.
With the Gold Coast hammered by rain since the start of the month, the club’s Parkwood headquarters bore the brunt of the deluge on Thursday as floodwaters completely submerged the training field.
WHY SPRY IS DETERMINED TO BE A NINES SUCCESS
While the majority of the Titans’ top-30 squad was on duty at the NRL Nines in Perth, the formation of a 1.5m deep lake over the pitch forced the club’s remaining players to head to Burleigh’s Pizzey Park for training on Friday.
It is the second time in the past month the field has been flooded and forced a training switch, but club officials insist there are no fears about long-term damage to the facilities.
BEARS FORCED INTO LATE TRIAL CHANGES AS STAR EYES RETURN
Groundskeeping staff from the adjacent Parkwood golf course are expected to get to work on repairing the field as soon as possible and the pre-season program will likely be back to normal by next week.
