The opportunity for nippers to be crowned world champions headlined the unveiling of the upcoming Summer of Surf series

While the Summer of Surf series in into its fourth instalment, it will also host the inaugural Race One World Nipper Championships in early December.

The news comes as over $600,000 in cash and prizes will be on offer across the summer as the series looks to maintain its ability to attract top-tier athletes. “We wanted to create a genuine career pathway for athletes and certainty that these events will be on for years to come,” Shaw and Partners Financial Services, who sponsor the series, CEO Earl Evans said.

“For the series to be offering over $600,000 in cash and prizes is something we are so proud of, as it provides the athletes the platform they have always deserved.”

The Shaw and Partners Hayden Kenny Classic on November 1st and 2nd is to kickstart the premier season.

Summer of Surf events manager Ben Cochrane spoke of the key tweaks and why their made to the 2024/25 schedule.

“The key feedback from last year is we need to space out our premier events to not only bring out the best racing from athletes but also allow for the time to really celebrate the storylines as they come to light throughout the summer,” Cochrane said.

“We think our series structure is an absolute winner and to have a lot of last year’s overall point scores being decided in a sprint finish in the final race of the summer is really a testament to that.

“We look forward to rolling out an even more polished and professional series than last year and celebrating just how incredible and prestigious our series is.”

Young athletes will be presented the chance to showcase their talent at the Hayden Kenny Classic which on November 3, with will of an under 11-14 race component on November 3, while the inaugural World Nipper Championships are slated for December 8.

“We are excited to introduce the Race One World Nipper Championships as part of our commitment to nurturing the next generation of surf sports champions,” said Earl Evans.

“These initiatives highlight just how committed Race One Surf Craft is to giving back to the next generation and inspiring them to be the very best they can be.”
