MEET the group of men breaking rank and steering clear of the traditional straight-edge approach we see from golfers.

With the Australian PGA Championship currently being held at Royal Pines on the Gold Coast, we have scoured through the field to find the top five most interesting characters set to grace the fairways.

FIVE MOST INTERESTING CHARACTERS PLAYING IN THE AUSTRALIAN PGA CHAMPIONSHIP

1. Andrew “beef” Johnston

The London born player, who scored two-under par in Round 1 of the tournament, is one of the most liked internationals in the field.

The big, burly Englishman was 11 when someone gave him his unique nickname due to the shape and makeup of his hair and head.

Johnston actually lost 21kg recently but hasn’t given up beef pies.

2. Jake McLeod

A new generation of top Australian talent is sweeping through golf and McLeod has brought a hipster vibe to the field.

McLeod, who finished third at the Australian Open, boasts a man-bun and the young baby face to go with it.

3. Jack Wilson

Together with his partner-in-crime, best mate and caddie ‘Rizz’, Wilson is determined to bring more fun and entertainment to golf. Wilson boasts a hairstyle that resembles dreadlocks tied up in a man-bun while Rizz, or known by few as Riley O’Neill, often gets compared to the character who plays the caddie in the movie Happy Gilmore.

4. Peter Wilson

He plays golf as a professional, but Wilson is also the owner of one of the biggest skateboard ramps in the world.

The ramp is located in his backyard in Victoria and Wilson won a two-year legal battle in 2016 to keep it in tact.

Wilson built the ramp for his son over 10 years ago in a bid to ensure they loved the outdoors instead of being stuck inside playing video games.

5. Daniel Fox

The New Zealander is brandishing one of the most impressive and intimidating hair features at the Australian PGA Championship. It could be enough to throw his playing partners off their game.

Fox and fellow player Daniel Gale are participating in Movember, a month used to raise awareness of men’s health issues.

But the hair won’t be staying. Both will be shaving their moustaches off after the end of the second round.
