ROBINA City are setting the bar high under new coach Nathan Mulhearn as they prepare for the official launch of their Coast League One assault.
Buoyed by the signings of Justin Barwick, Grant Wernerson, Winnie Tukariri, Kris Dodd and Jarrod Hinvest, the Coast League squad will begin life under Mulhearn when pre-season training starts on Wednesday.
ACADEMY EYES ITALO-AUSTRALIAN CLUB MOVE
It is a big moment for former Tweed United assistant Mulhearn, who is heading into his first season as a head coach following a successful apprenticeship under Football Gold Coast legend Dennis Dodd.
The partnership delivered the Coast League title double for the Marlins in 2017, with Mulhearn keen to replicate that success at the helm of a side riding a 42-game winless run.
“We want to try and take the club to another level, we have high expectations and there will be high standards set. We will be winning games, we will be competitive and a team the club can be proud of,” Mulhearn said.

“The players we have recruited understand this, they have been involved with high-performing teams before and know what is required. We are attracting players who have won both the Coast League One and Premier League titles before.
“I am sure we will attract more players as word gets out about what we are building. At the moment we know what we want to achieve and that is the easy part.
“It is now that the hard work starts for our coaching team and the players. We have a great committee that are backing us and providing essential support such as sports trainers and physios.”
COACH VOWS TO LIFT HOR HISTORIC CAMPAIGN
With Dodd also set to serve as Mulhearn’s assistant, the club will hold training sessions from 6.30pm on December 12 and 19 before resuming on January 8.
The first trial game is against Brisbane’s Ridge Hills United on January 19.
