WITH the surf lifesaving season about to get underway, the Bulletin takes a look at 10 athletes to keep an eye out for this season.

Name: Tex Dixon

Club: Surfers Paradise

Age: 17

Favourite events: Board and ironman

Years competing: Eight

Season ambition: To win the Board Race at the Australian Championships.

Biggest achievement: Won the Open and Under 19 Board Race at the recent Queensland Endurance Championships.

Name: Max Allars

Club: North Burleigh

Age: 12

Favourite events: Ocean Swim, Ironman and all team events

Years competing: Seven

Season ambition: To make the finals in all water events at the State Championships and achieve a podium finish; to represent the region in Surf Lifesaving; continue to strive to be the best I can be in and out of the water.

Biggest achievement: Individual Bronze in the Ocean swim at State Championships and member of multiple State Gold medalling teams.

Age: 10

Favourite events: Board, Swim & Team events

Years competing: Three years competing / five years at nippers

Season ambition: To win the Board Rescue

Biggest achievement: 1st in the Branch Board Race – U9’s

Name: Bianca Rayward

Club: Kurrawa

Age: 11

Favourite events: Ironwoman, Swim, Beach Run

Years competing: Four

Season ambition: Retain my titles at Coolangatta Gold and QLD Youth Championships

Biggest achievement: Three time individual Golds at QLD Youth Championships (Ironwoman, Swim and 1km beach run) and winning Coolangatta Gold - even beating the boys. I also made State and Nationals for six different sports this year.

THE 11-YEAR-OLD GIRL WHO TOOK ON THE BOYS AND WON

Age: 12

Favourite events: Board Rescue and Board Relay. I love all the team events and water events.

Years competing: Six years

Season ambition: Winning a medal in the board rescue with my partner Aleah and to have the most fun in my final season of nippers.

Biggest achievement: Improving every season and winning a state medal in the Enduro last weekend.

CUFF’S SIMPLE GOAL FOR NEW SURF LIFESAVING SEASON

Name: Auden Parish

Club: Northcliffe

Age: 16

Favourite events: Board and ironman.

Years competing: Started nippers age 5 started first nipper competition age 7

Season ambition: Place in all carnivals win Queensland board and finish top three in Ironman. Win the Australian title board and place top three in the Ironman.

Biggest achievement: Third in the Australian Ironman

Name: Sara Tazaki

Club: Northcliffe

Age: 16

Favourite events: Surf lifesaving - surf swim race and ironwoman. Open water swimming - 7.5km swim.

Years competing: Going into my seventh year this season (started nippers at 4 years old, started competing in U11’s and have loved it since). Open water - 4 years.

Season ambition: Lifesaving - make AYLT (Australian Youth Lifesaving Team) for Worlds next year, win back to back u17 surf race and top three in u17 iron woman at Aussies. Open water - 1st in 7.5km and 5km at Nationals and go to Worlds next year by making Australian Team.

Biggest achievement: Selected in the AYLT (winning team this year) for ISRC (International Surf Rescue Challenge) 2019 and won the surf race. 1st in u17 surf race at Aussies 2019. Won 5km and 7.5km swim for open water at Nationals 2019

Season ambition: To improve my skills on my ski

Biggest achievement: Winning under 15’s Qld Ironman and receiving the Matthew Barclay Memorial trophy. Making the Queensland teams and winning Aussie medals with my teammates.
