The Mustangs were the big winners in Saturday’s grand finals at Carrara, claiming the Coast League Reserves title with a 3-1 win over Broadbeach before the top side repeated the dose against the Dolphins 5-1.

While they missed out on promotion after falling to Mudgeeraba in the Premier League playoff last month, first grade coach Jason Schulz said they would return bigger and better in 2019.

“We’re definitely building. We’re desperate to play Premier League and have been for a few years now and we’ve showed a lot of promise,” Schulz said.

“This (grand final success) is the culmination of at least five years of preparation so we’ve slowly built up and we’ve recruited really well so we’re super confident for next year as well.”

Musgrave capitalised to lead 3-0 before ill-discipline again cost the Dolphins, who were at one stage down to eight players following two red cards and another sin-binning.
