Australian PGA Championship trick shots

PIN-high approaches and drives that could make your eyes water.

That’s what fans have come to expect from professional golfers who are shooting lower and lower scores on the toughest courses around the world.

But every now and then even the best find themselves in a spot of bother on the course, and it’s here they truly separate themselves from the average club players who commonly grace the second and third cuts of grass on the side of fairways.

Enter Jack Wilson and his left-field caddie and best mate Riley O’Neill, known by most as “Rizz”, who will part of this week’s Australian PGA Championship at Royal Pines.

The Bulletin put Wilson in five of the toughest positions anyone could find themselves in this week and left it up to him and Rizz to make their way out of it.

The duo are friends from Noosa and bring a lighthearted approach to one of the most serious sports there is.

The PGA of Australia filmed their efforts at last year’s PGA Championship and they have returned as Rizz continues to angle to star in a new Happy Gilmore film being touted by Adam Sandler.

Rizz has an uncanny resemblance to the homeless man who caddies for Gilmore in the original movie, largely due to his long untamed hair and beard.

“I don’t know a lot about golf. By that I mean I don’t know anything,” Rizz said.

“People find it strange and ask (Wilson) why he would have someone with no experience on the bag for big tournaments.

“It’s funny. I don’t give any advice and I don’t rake the bunkers.

“I just stand around, clean his clubs and clean his balls. I’m a bit of a water boy as well. He likes his water lukewarm, maybe slightly above lukewarm.

“My job is just to make sure he is happy. We have a lot of fun. We sing a lot of songs and I tell a joke every now and then.

“(Wilson) knows so much more about his own game than anybody else would. I’m just there to be fun and relax him.”
