HERO OF THE WEEK

Steve MacDonald. While Coomera bowed out of the Premier League finals race with a 2-1 loss to Nerang, the Colts coach has taken a team tipped by many for relegation to the brink of the top four. Through it all, he has given opponents their dues and refused to blame officials.

VILLAIN OF THE WEEK

Yuto Hayamizu. The Burleigh Heads livewire went from hero to villain in Friday’s Premier League battle with Broadbeach United, netting a first-half goal before being sent off to allow the Dolphins to claim a 2-2 draw.

‘THEY’RE THE FORM SIDE OF THE COMPETITION’

RISING STOCKS

Surfers Paradise. Tipped for big things at the start of the Premier League season, Apollo have overcome a slow start to find form at the right time. They sounded a finals warning with a 7-0 thumping of Mudgeeraba on Sunday, with returning veteran Chris Broadfoot netting a hat-trick.

FALLING STOCKS

Coomera’s Women’s Premier League side. The Colts have remained competitive since the competition split in two a month ago, but a draw and three losses show they still have ground to make up to threaten the likes of Broadbeach and Southport.
