The Gold Coast Rollers are adamant that tonight’s match against the Toowoomba Mountaineers presents no danger despite the western side having nothing to play for.

The Mountaineers currently sit last on the QBL ladder but last week’s player of the game Jaryd Eustace said the Rollers still have much to gain from the match.

“We’re approaching every game the same and there will still be things we can take out of this game regardless of whether we win or lose,” he said.

“For us it’s about the growth aspect and continuing to improve each game.”

TSS BASKETBALL INJURY CURSE STRIKES AGAIN

Despite the Rollers being slated to play both QBL bottom two sides in their final two games, Eustace doesn’t believe the soft run will compromise the club’s playoffs preparation.

“It’s such a short season that you have to play every game on its merit and gain something from every game,” he said.

“I think we’d say we gain more from losses more than wins.”

The lady Rollers play tonight at 6pm at Carrara Indoor Stadium followed by the men at 8pm.

In Saturday night’s other QBL action, the North Gold Coast Seahawks take on the Southern Districts Spartans to keep their slim finals playoffs alive though coach Adam Tyrus knows everything will have to go their way to pinch a spot in the eight.

“We’re trying to focus on the process but the outcome but we’ve got a favourable draw,” he said.

“We need a few results to go our way.

“Our form has been okay but we need to keep executing and sticking to our game plan.”

Jordan Baleikatuba has been ruled out for the season after a knee injury at training during the week but captain Rob Linton returns to the side.

The Lady Hawks kick off proceedings at 6pm tonight at Rowland Cowan Stadium followed by the men at 8pm.
