Hoping to add grand final success to their championship victory, the Bulldogs prevailed 3-0 after Hilton was rushed to hospital early in the second half.
The veteran striker had opened the scoring in the 14th minute but his night came to a horror end shortly after halftime when he fell into the knee of Surfers goalkeeper Tim Warren.

David Mutch then made it 3-0 midway through the second half to put the result beyond doubt.
