When you want to play netball at the highest level for South Africa, the next logical step is to move to Australia to play netball, at least for Bond Bull Shark Jeante Strydom.

When you want to play netball at the highest level for South Africa, the next logical step is to move to Australia to play netball, at least for Bond Bull Shark Jeante Strydom.
The 23-year-old from Pretoria in South Africa has long held ambitions to represent her country and last year decided that the best way to do so was to cross the Indian Ocean and continue her pathway to the top in one of the world’s netball meccas.

“It’s always been a dream of mine to represent South Africa,” she said.
“It’s been a whole plan for me to come here to play and broaden my skills.
“Australia is one of the best countries in the world at netball so it’s a great stepping stone for me to become a better player because the standard is higher here.
“I always wanted to play netball in Australia.”
After one of her best friends travelled to the Gold Coast to play in the 2018 Commonwealth Games, a plan was devised to get Strydom to the Glitter Strip for the Bull Sharks inaugural Sapphire Series campaign.
“Bond jumped in and helped me get here and I couldn’t have been happier to join them,” she said.
“I’m really grateful to Bond and the Bull Sharks for giving me the opportunity to develop my netball skills at a higher level than I’m used to and helping me try and reach my netball dream.
“The standard of training is a lot more than anything I’ve experienced.”

After losing their first two games, Strydom said that team morale is up ahead of their third match ahead of the Jets at Carrara tonight (5:20pm).
“We had a really good training session this week and we really want to grab that win,” she said.
