THE Kurrawa crew have proven they will be the ones to beat in the P3 beach sprint series after a commanding performance at round one on Saturday.
At their home beach in the scorching heat, Kurrawa lay claim to the first four finishers of the women’s beach sprint finals.
Bree Masters won the race ahead of teammates Casie Fyall, Taylor Stickler and Nicole Kay.
“That was our relay team who have been undefeated for a while now so it was good to see all the girls are in strong form,” Masters said.
“It was really good as a season opener.”

Teammate Samuel Ross finished fourth in the men’s final.
Masters believes that the home beach advantage played a slight role in her side’s dominance as they look towards renewing their longstanding rivalry with Currumbin in the remaining two rounds.
“We train on that beach every week so we know what it’s like,” she said.
“It’s really good to get a win at home.”
The Somerset Gift winner returned to the beach on Sunday at Burleigh, playing a commentary role for the Nutri-Grain series.
“I started my first commentary gig at interstates last season and did a bit at Aussies,” she said.
“I love getting around the other side of the sport and the men and women in the iron series.”
