1. Jai Kurt (Mudgeeraba): 3/43 from 8 overs
The 19-year-old, six foot four off spinner Jai Kurt was tipped to have a big season and is doing just that so far. Kurt was great for Mudgeeraba on Saturday in their win against Palm Beach. He took several middle order wickets, including former Australian U19 player Isaiah Borgas after a half century, and James McNeil who is always dangerous with the bat.
2. Kyle Brockley (Broadbeach): 4/28 from 6.3 overs and 3 (13)
Broadbeach captain Kyle Brockley took four wickets in their defeat of Surfers, including getting Curtis Jackson out for a duck. Brockley dismissed Surfers’ Nathan Reardon for 60.
3. Corey Galloway (Alberton Ormeau): 4/23 from 6.2 overs and 37 (65)
Corey Galloway returns to the TOTW for Round 2. While on the losing side, Galloway scored 37 off 65 balls and took four wickets, including Leo Davies for a duck.
4. Sam Lickiss (Helensvale): 3/28 from 6 overs and 3 (11)
The first of the Lickiss brothers to make Round 2 TOTW, Sam Lickiss took three wickets from six overs. It was a tough battle against last years runners up in Runaway Bay, but Lickiss’ efforts were strong.
5. Dayne Siede (Mudgeeraba): 75 (76)
Dayne Siede displayed great partnerships with both Josh Nelson and Dylan McLaughlin to reach a score of 75 from 76 balls, for a strike rate of 98.68. The batsman was good for Mudgeeraba in their chase, taking a wicket on Jainam Patel to put the pressure on Palm Beach early.
6. Steven Baker (Queens): 87 runs, 7 fours and 5 sixes
Snaring Broadbeach’s Steven Baker is already paying dividends for Queens as they earned their second win of the season. While Baker is Queens’ wicketkeeper, he had to be included in the TOTW as a batsman after scoring 87, including 7 fours and 5 sixes.
7. Nathan Reardon (Surfers Paradise): 60 (72), 4 fours, 1 six and 1/33 from 7.5 overs
A standout in Surfers’ line-up, Reardon was strong again but wasn’t it enough for Surfers to get the win. Reardon took 1/33 from 7.5 overs. Reardon returns to TOTW for a second time.
8. Trent Keep (Broadbeach): 66 (92), 8 fours and 1/28 from 6 overs
Opening batsman Trent Keep gave Broadbeach early confidence with a score of 66 from 92 balls at a strike rate of 71.73. On the defence he took a wicket when he dismissed Jonathan Baldock.
9. Jack Lickiss (Helensvale): 65 (69)
Working with Kaleb Day, Jack Lickiss gave Helensvale their best shot at a win with the bat. His score of 65 from 69 included 4 fours and 1 six for a strike rate of 94.2. Another wicket keeper included for his strength with the bat.
10. Mitchell Freeman (Queens): 57
The pressure was on early for Queens when both Max Houlahan and Jack Kann got out for ducks, but Freeman was able to remain calm with Ned Hanrahan (47) to make back the loss. Freeman scored 57, including 7 fours.
11. Jimbo Martin (Burleigh): 71 (95), 4 catches +
Wicket keeper and batsman Jimbo Martin was excellent for the Bullsharks in their 8-run win against Alberton Ormeau. Martin scored 71 from 95 balls and took four catches.
