It was second time lucky for Cougars on a busy Sapphire Series weekend while Thunder and Bull Sharks put on a shooting clinic in scoring 150 points between them. Relive all the action.

It’s fourth time lucky for the Brisbane North Cougars in the Sapphire Series.

The only team without a win entering the second half of the weekend double header on Sunday, the Cougars got the jump early on Brisbane South Wildcats and held firm in a frantic final term to win 62-55.

The victory came just 24 hours after they slumped to a 0-3 record after losing heavily to TAE Ipswich Jets.

Wildcats, who had the bye on Saturday, trailled by 11 points at three-quarter time and that margin blew out to as many as 16 before their flying finish in the last two minutes.

Sapphire Series Round 4 - Sunshine Coast Thunder v Bond Uni Bull Sharks

It was one of the more remarkable Sapphire Series games in recent times.

And the upshot is the Sunshine Coast Thunder are now guaranteed to finish the weekend either first or second on the ladder.

They put on a shooting clinic in front of their home fans to beat Bond University Bull Sharks 78-72.

It’s the quite the turnaround from less than 24 hours earlier when they were comfortably beaten by Carina League Club Tigers.

But give the Bull Sharks plenty of credit. They are certainly entertaining to watch. And they love doing things by twos. Super shots reined in from all over the place.

Down by 15 goals at three-quarter time, they produced an incredible finishing burst to fall to just six goals short.

The combined 150 points in the match was more than 30 more than any other game has produced so far this season.

SATURDAY LIVE STREAM GAME

ACU Brisbane Cougars v TAE Ipswich Jets

The Saturday evening game saw TAE Aerospace Jets taking down the Cougars 64-46.

Leading by nine points at halftime (28-19), the Jets gradually extended their advantage throughout an excellent second half.

The 18-goal win and Sunday’s big win over the Carina Leagues Club Tigers gives them the perfect start to the season, with a 3-0 ledger.

It’s the final game of the first double-header weekend of the Sapphire Series season - and it promises to be a cracker.

On a high from their win against the Tigers last weekend, the Wildcats are eager to put on a dazzling performance against their Brisbane rivals.

Head coach Megan Lynch said it would come down to mindset.

“I don’t like to say things out loud, but what I do know, is the girls believe in themselves now,” she said.

“I don’t think there’s a team we can’t take it to, it’s just about our four consistent quarters.

“If we put four quarters together anything is possible.”
