PREVIEW

Ipswich Jets coach Paula Stuart has declared her side is hungrier than ever as last year’s grand finalists aim to continue their undefeated start to the season.

The high-flying Jets will clash with fourth place Brisbane South Wildcats as part of a blockbuster Sapphire Series double-header live stream on Sunday.

The exclusive KommunityTV coverage, which kicks off from 4pm, will also include a clash between a well-rested Gold Coast Titans and injury-riddled Carina Leagues Club Tigers.

But all eyes will be on the Jets, who have been on a tear to start the Sapphire Series, with three wins from three matches.

“They are more hungry than ever and they are believing in themselves and each other, which is what helps a team perform so well,” Stuart said.

“We are definitely looking forward to meeting the Wildcats and have observed their game to come prepared.”

The Jets welcomed back gun midcourter Chloe Litherland after a long battle to overcome a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament sustained in last year’s grand final.

TAE Aerospace Jets midcourter Stephanie O’Brien has been a key addition to the midcourt.

While Litherland’s minutes were heavily reduced last weekend, Stuart said she was excited to see her impact increase over the coming weeks.

“It was exciting to see Chloe back on the court,” Stuart said.

“She had very limited court time and that will hold in every game as she returns to full form.

“The team were so pleased to see her back on court and you couldn’t wipe the smile off her face.”

Stuart, a former Wildcats head coach who took the side to a premiership in 2019, said it’s been a great start to the season but refused to lose sight of a tough run of games ahead.

The Wildcats will pose a credible threat to the Jets winning streak, with several exciting player battles across the court highlighting just how well the two sides are matched. .

Queensland Firebirds off-season recruit Ali Miller will go head-to-head with Jets’ lockdown defender Lily Gribble in the circle.

The pair, equally tall and agile under the post, have yet to come face-to-face on a netball court and will be hard to split when it comes to the court.

Through the midcourt, the positional combo of Wildcats’ Maddi Davies and Tahlia Evans will test the new partnership of Jets’ Steph O’Brien and Ally McLeod.
