But nothing compares to the TSS ‘brotherhood’ and MacLeod’s quest to steer his side to a premiership.

The 17-year-old first started playing football at age six for Runaway Bay Soccer Club and was playing NPL football by the age of 12.

MacLeod’s knack as a defensive midfielder soon saw him develop in a first grade player for the Gold Coast Knights and has seen MacLeod playing twice a weekend and training several times a week.

But Knights assistant coach and 2019 Under-20s coach Sean Lane (father of former TSS First captain Sean) and former TSS team coach and current Under-20s Knights coach Keith Stevens have ensured cherishes his final year at TSS.

“I would be lying if I didn’t say we have a strong chance to win the competition, but I know that these games aren’t taken lightly,” said as TSS prepare to kick off their GPS campaign vs. Nudgee on Saturday.

“They are intense for schoolboy level and anything can happen but I strongly believe we have a good chance of bringing the cup home this year.

“It would mean the world to me to win the competition for my school TSS and for the next eight weeks I will put everything I have into it.

“Given that most of us have played together last year there is certainly a strong sense of team chemistry and a good team culture within the group.

“We all know we have something about us and a great buzz is felt among the group.”

A member of the First XI squad since year nine, believes he has developed as both a person and footballer and hopes to eventually play professionally after hopefully helping the Knights to consecutive NPL titles.

“I would love to take up a career in playing professional football somewhere in Australia or even abroad,” he said.

“My family heritage is from Scotland and I see Scotland as being a great stepping stone to higher grade football.”
