Palm Beach coach Brett Budwee has selected his dream 11 for the Gold Coast Premier League team of the decade.
DON’T MISS: Coast football’s team of the decade
Longevity, skill and x-factor all rated highly in Budwee’s eyes, meaning he had to overlook a handful of players who were on the crevice of two decades.
COAST COACHES’ TEAMS OF THE DECADE
■ Broadbeach’s Andrew Robinson
Budwee opted for a 4-3-3 set up, with plenty of talent stacked across the three lines.
KEEPER
Tim Warren (Merrimac Mudgeeraba, GCK, Surfers)
“Tim has been playing since 2010 and he’s a big presence, a huge communicator and a great shot stopper. He’s the whole package really.”
DEFENDERS
RB - Leon Bell (Broadbeach)
“He’s a solid, oldschool defender. I don’t think I’ve seen him smile on the football field. He’s been captain at Broadbeach for a long time and he’s a great leader.”
CB - Luke Martinero (Burleigh/Broadbeach)
“He’s the best defender I’ve seen while I’ve been on the Coast. He’s old school, a hard defender to play against and he reads the game well.”

CB - Jean-Phillipe Lasm (Magic/Surfers)
“Hes’s the best reader of football that I’ve seen during my time on the Coast. I’ve known him since he was 14-years-old and I remember giving him his first grade debut at Magic. He was a midfielder in those days but he’s played a lot of Premier League at centre back and reads the game better than anyone else. One of the best 1v1 defenders I’ve seen.”
LB - Ben Harrison (Broadbeach)
“His dad was a good player and so is he. He’s probably the best left back I’ve come across. He’s a great cross of the ball and a hard worker. He probably runs more kilometres than most.”

MIDFIELDERS
Bruno Rodriguez (Merrimac/Surfers)
“He’s been playing Premier League as long as I can remember and he’s been a pain to me and my teams during those years! He’s consistent, a good leader and a great footballer.”
Russel Miner (Broadbeach)
“He plays at a higher level. Smart footballer who doesn’t waste too much energy and always seems to be in the right spot at the right time, Deadly across the pitch.”
Justin Watmough (Broadbeach)
“He was a big part of that successful Broadbeach midfield. He’s a typical pigeon toe, in that his toes point in but he was technically very good on both sides. He’s a smart player who can score as well.”
‘I THINK WE’LL BE A DIFFERENT LOOKING SIDE’
FORWARDS
Luke Morley (TVK/Murwillumbah)
“Another one at a higher level who had some injuries across the decade but he was always quality in front of goal. A great leader as well.”
Matt Hilton (Palm Beach/Surfers/Merrimac/Murwillumbah/Burleigh/Mudgeeraba)
“He’s deadly inside the box and obviously played for Australia when he was younger and it showed. He’s a proper footballer and deadly in front of goal.”
Shaun Robinson (Southport/Mudgeeraba/Broadbeach)
“He’s close to being one of the most prolific goal scorers on the Coast in the last decade. He hangs around the box and knows where to be. He’s good on the cross and consistent.”
