Frustrated by two washouts and a bye in Round 1, the three-time defending champions finally opened their account last Saturday with a comfortable five-wicket win at home to Brisbane State High.

Their Round 5 assignment tomorrow is a trip to Toowoomba Grammar School, who led the competition after three rounds before a surprise loss to Ipswich Grammar School last weekend.

REIGNING CHAMPS FLEX MUSCLE IN FIRST XI TRIUMPH

Both sides will enter tomorrow’s battle knowing defeat could prove fatal in their title quest and the importance of the game is not lost on TSS coach Ross Wallace.

“The funny thing is if we can win our last six games we’re still very much in the (title) race. We can make it very hard for a few sides because four of the six games are against teams above us,” Wallace said.

“It’s going to make it tough with the two washouts (but) if we can jag one or two bonus points we’re a chance. We make sure the boys are switched on and ready to go.

“In the GPS comp there’s no easy game. Anything can come out and bite you on the day so we’ve got to be prepared for everything.”

DOLPHINS LEGEND’S ADVICE AHEAD OF SEASON-DEFINING CLASH

While they sit fifth, TSS are the only remaining unbeaten team after Nudgee College also lost to Gregory Terrace last weekend.

It leaves them just five points adrift of new competition leaders Terrace, with fellow top-three sides Brisbane Boys’ College and Nudgee also yet to have the bye.
