Qld cricket’s next generation sweep into Aussie under 19 World Cup squad

Queensland Cricket’s next generation of star players have been sweep into the Australian under 19 World Cup squad.

Queensland Cricket’s next generation of Bulls players have been selected in the Australian under 19 World Cup squad.

Redlands Tigers all-rounder Jack Sinfield, Toombul wicketkeeper-batsman Toby Snell and Wests dynamic young fast bowler Tom Whitney have made the 15 man squad.

The World Cup will be played in the West Indies, January 14 to February 5.

Sinfield and Snell are cricketing prodigies, having come through the Australian and Queensland under age ranks.

Sinfield, named 12th man in the Bulls Sheffield Shield side earlier in the season, is an off-spinner who bats very well at No.5-No.7.

The Redlands junior was a GPS First XI star with The Southport School where his teammate is another Queensland batting young gun, Hugo Burdon.

Snell, whose brother Isaiah is a former Queensland under 19 gloveman, is a Wilston junior who came through the Northern Suburbs ranks before moving to Toombul this season where he broke into the Bulls top side.

A St Joseph’s Gregory Terrace old boy, Snell’s selection continues Queensland’s remarkable knack of producing elite Australian glovemen - stretching back to the great Don Tallon in the 1950s and continuing across the decades.

He is one of only two Queenslanders to be awarded the Sir Donald Bradman Scholarship - the other was former Test batsman and Queensland’s greatest run scorer, Martin Love.

A fourth Queenslander, another Terrace old boy Aubrey Stockdale of Toombul, has been named the reserve.

The trio’s selection follows on from Queensland young fast bowling Bulls Matt Willians (University) and Connor Sully (Norths) starring at the 2019 World Cup.
