Marcus Stoinis went within two sixes of breaking his own SuperCoach BBL record during his historic BBL hundred against Sydney Sixers.

The Melbourne Stars all-rounder holds the record for the highest SuperCoach BBL score recorded — 257 against Brisbane Heat in BBL07.

Stoinis dominated with bat and ball that night, snaring 3-38 from four overs before he fell centimetres short of a heroic ton, run out for 99 from 51 balls in the last over of the Stars’ run chase.

His man-of-the-match performance equated to 257 SuperCoach BBL points, six more than Hobart star D’Arcy Short recorded when he blasted 122 not out from 69 balls against Brisbane Heat in January, 2018.

Stoinis amassed 244 points against Sydney Sixers during his record-breaking 147 not out on Sunday night, the third-highest SuperCoach BBL score in history.

His awe-inspiring display equated to 147 points for runs, 68 for strike rate bonus and 29 for boundaries scored.

Stoinis, who had the best SuperCoach average of any player in BBL (96.9), incredibly holds five of the top-10 highest scores.

Only five 200+ totals have ever been recorded, of which he has two, while he has also posted 199, 196 and 194 during his career with Melbourne Stars.

Stoinis monstered 376 SuperCoach points during Melbourne Stars Round 10 double last season, which became 752 points for those who made him captain.

That was the round the highest SuperCoach score of 1834 was set, with 1818 the closest any coach has come in BBL09.

Stoinis has averaged 78.2 points a game this season and ranked third for total points behind Stars skipper Glenn Maxwell and Sydney Sixers English import Tom Curran with 704 from nine matches.

The opener has 478 runs for the tournament, 159 more than second-ranked Shaun Marsh (319).
