If you rode the Marcus Stoinis gravy train in SuperCoach BBL last summer, his Round 10 heroics will live long in your memory.
The Melbourne Stars all-rounder was one of the competition’s in-form players heading into his side’s late-season double, taking seven wickets and compiling 182 runs in his three BBL games prior to Round 10.
Those who opted to make Stoinis captain were duly rewarded when he continued his hot streak with 7-41 and 96 runs from 74 balls across games against Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers.
His efforts amounted to an unbelievable 376 points, or 752 when doubled as skipper.
Stoinis’ total was 152 points higher than the next best in BBL08, D’Arcy Short’s 224 from a double game week against Melbourne Stars and Perth Scorchers.
Such was his dominance after being thrust to the top of the Stars’ batting line-up, Stoinis posted four of the top-10 round scores of the summer.
As a result, he finished with the best average (96.9) of any player and will start BBL09 with the highest price tag ($278,900).

1. Marcus Stoinis (Melbourne Stars) Round 10 — 376 points
The Stars all-rounder dominated his side’s Round 10 double against Brisbane and Adelaide, making 53 from 45 balls and snaring 3-20 against the Strikers before posting 43 from 29 and taking 4-21 against the Heat four nights later. The result was a remarkable return for his SuperCoach owners.
2. D’Arcy Short (Hobart Hurricanes) Round 8 — 224 points
Short went big during a double against the Stars and Scorchers, vindicating those who made him their Round 8 skipper with a dashing 96 not out from 57 against Melbourne. He was out for 13 against Perth but took wickets in both games to add a crucial 50 points to his tally.
3. Riley Meredith (Hobart Hurricanes) Round 8 — 216 points
Meredith ripped through Melbourne Stars, collecting a career-best 4-21 from four overs which included 13 dot balls (worth one point each). He then delivered another 12 dots and grabbed 2-19 against Perth.
4. D’Arcy Short (Hobart Hurricanes) Round 3 — 208 points
Only three games into BBL08, the leading run scorer from the previous summer slashed 58 from 39 deliveries in a thrilling win against Sydney Thunder, before producing a more measured 34 from 33 balls against Perth Scorchers. His 2-17 from three overs against the Thunder opened up more bowling opportunities.
5. Tom Curran (Sydney Sixers) Round 2 — 203 points
The best individual game of BBL08 and the sole entry in the 200+ club. Curran took 3-24 from four overs and led a Sixers rearguard after coming to the crease with his side teetering at 5-39. The Englishman made 62 from 40 balls in a knock which featured eight boundaries and one six, launching his score above 200.
