Bill Turner Cup live stream: Meet the captains ready to lead their schools to glory

Coaches from all eight remaining teams in the Bill Turner Cup have revealed who will lead their team to glory ahead of the Queensland live streamed finals. See the full list.

With only eight teams remaining in the Bill Turner Cup Queensland finals, coaches from both divisions have uncovered which names will be the ones to lead their team to glory.

KommunityTV will bring you an exclusive live stream of the Bill Turner Cup Queensland finals kicking off with the Cup (boys) and Trophy (girls) semi-finals on Tuesday.

The stream will continue on Wednesday with the third-placed play-offs as well as the grand finals all from the Moreton Bay Central Sports Complex, Burpengary.

The top schools from all four corners of Queensland have progressed through the knockout competition, with the aim to come away with the ultimate bragging rights.

Meet the players who will be tasked with leading their school side through the finals.

Meet the Bill Turner Cup captains

Marsden State High School

Coach: Richard Greer

Captain: Caleb Butler

Position: Midfield

Club: Brisbane Roar Academy

“Caleb is an energetic midfielder who leads with his actions on and off the pitch,” Greer said.

“His performances in midfield have been instrumental in us reaching this stage of the Bill Turner Cup.

“Caleb is a current member of the Brisbane Roar Academy and is dedicated to improving himself as an athlete.”


Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie)

Coach: Scott MacNicol

Captain: Lucas Herrington

Position: Centre back

Club: Brisbane Roar

“Lucas is a great presence in the dressing room and is a natural leader,” Churchie’s director of football, Alex Rados said.

“He has flawlessly led the team in the 2022 Bill Turner Cup with his organisational skills, passing ability and being a constant danger for opponents on set pieces.”


Aspley State High School

Coach: Tom Fanning

Captain: Kobi Pastourel

Position: Centre Midfielder

Club: Morten Bay U15 NPL

“Kobi has been an integral part to our Bill Turner Cup success,” Fanning said.

“Kobi is a leader both on and off the field and has matured into an intelligent and creative football player.”

Cairns State High School

Coach: Josh Taylor

Captain: Ty Jones

Position: Centre Back

Club: Edge Hill United

“Ty is a fantastic role model to his peers, he leads by example both on and off the pitch,” team manager Martin Fehlberg said.

“His positivity, competitive nature and sportsmanship have played a large role in seeing us advance to the state finals.”

Bill Turner Trophy captains

Kelvin Grove State College

Coach: Jason Tobin

Captain: Rebeckah Jackson

Position: Centre back and central midfield

Club: Moreton Bay United

“Bek is hard working and her versatile football ability allows her to play anywhere across the back line as well as slotting into midfield comfortably,” Tobin said.

“She is all engine and heart and is a very successful long distance and cross country runner winning the 2022 District Cross Country and representing Met North at the State Championships.”

Cairns State High School

Coach: Joshua Purton

Captain: Hayley Campbell

Position: Full Back

Club: Edge Hill United Football Club

“Hayley is an inspirational player who leads by example both on and off the field,” Purton said.

“She is very strong in one-on-one defensive challenges and is able to read the game exceptionally well, transitioning defence into attacking opportunities.

“Hayley has a very strong work ethic and is able to rise to the challenge and inspire her teammates when the game is on the line.

“This was evident with her selection in the Queensland u15 school team, and when she plays her local football in the U14 boy’s JQPL competition and U23 Women’s League for Edge Hill United.”


Cleveland District State High School

Coach: James Piercy

Captain: Mia Austen

Cleveland captain Mia Austen has been labelled as a player to watch.

Position: Defender

Club: Easts

“Mia is a great leader who plays with her heart on her sleeve,” Piercy said.

“She never shies away from a tackle whilst always wanting to get on the ball and play the ‘Cleveland way’.

“Whilst currently playing her club football at Easts she has been a reliable player for both Cleveland District SHS Bill Turner Trophy and SPL Sides.”


Murrumba State Secondary College

Coach: Kim Abbott

Captain: Freya Crooks

Position: Centre back (but mostly plays central midfield and striker for the Bill Turner Cup Squad)

Club: Mitchelton FC

“Freya is a passionate and encouraging leader who brings an element of fun and laughter with her everywhere she goes,” Abbott said.

“On the field, Freya is composed in possession and tough in a tackle.

“She reads the game well and plays with a level of maturity beyond her years.

“Because of this she has a huge impact on how our team fairs both in and out of possession.”
