Three Gold Coast Suns have made the 22under22 squad but will they make our final team? The Bulletin tries our hand at selecting a final 22

Three Gold Coast Suns, Kalinda Howarth, Lauren Bella and Jacqui Yorston have been named in the 22under22 squad. To celebrate, the Bulletin has had a crack at naming our final team. Will our three Suns girls make it?

THEY’VE often been touted as boasting one of the most talented young lists in the league but now the Suns have proven it.

Three young Suns, Kalinda Howarth, Lauren Bella and Jacqui Yorston have all been named in the AFL Players’ Association inaugural 22under22 squad.

Howarth finished as the Suns leading goal kicker in her debut season with nine majors - the third most of anyone in the league.

Her flashes of brilliance gripped the league and led to her being nominated for the AFLW rising star award on the back of a three goal performance in the inaugural Q-Clash.

Bella finished the season with 130 hitouts, the most of any ruck in the competition and is one of two rucks to be named in the squad.

Yorston finished the season with a club high 48 tackles, the third most of anyone in the league.

SUNS CAPTAIN REVEALS PLAYING FUTURE

She also averaged 14 disposals and was a crucial cog of the Suns midfield.

The 22Under22 concept was introduced in 2013 to reward the young stars of our game under 22 years of age who burst onto the scene so early in their careers.

SUNS SEASON REPORT CARD

A squad of 31 players has been named and fans have the opportunity to select their final 22 online now.

To celebrate Yorston, Howarth and Bella making the squad, the Bulletin has tried our hand at trimming down the squad of 31 to a final 22.

And tell you what, it was an extremely hard task, and there are some very stiff omissions.
