With the Gold Coast’s 2020 AFLW season done and dusted, we run the rule over all the players who featured in the AFLW this year and rate their performance in our power rankings.

1.Jamie Stanton

One of the AFLW’s best midfielders. As tough as they come and lead from the front the entire season.

2.Kalinda Howarth

One of the league’s best young talents. Can kick a goal from anywhere and reads the ball exceptionally in the air and once it hits the deck.

3.Jade Pregelj

Tough, reliable and consistent. Plays in front to great effect and rarely loses a contest. Was one of the AFLW’s best defenders this season.

4.Lauren Ahrens

Combined beautifully with Pregelj as one of the league’s most reliable defensive units. Great overhead and can be trusted to efficiently exit the ball outside defensive 50.

5.Hannah Dunn

Hard working midfielder who excels at the coal face. Also a mean tackler. Missed one a game with a calf injury but was as consistent as they come.

6.Kate Surman

A hard working midfielder/forward who links up with her teammates well. Also found herself on the end of a few goals throughout the season. Don’t leave her alone with a microphone.

7.Jacqui Yorston

Tackling machine who took her game to another level gifted with more opportunity. Finds the ball well and tough on the inside.

8.Lauren Bella

Emerged as one of the AFLW’s best young talls and finished with more hitouts than anyone in the league. Great work rate and made everyone sit up and take notice with her breakout game against North Melbourne.

9. Leah Kaslar

Captain courageous. Still throwing her body around like she’s a teenager. Led from the front but didn’t have the impact she would have liked up forward before returning to her wicked ways down back against West Coast.

‘WE GOT BEATEN BY A BETTER SIDE:’ SUNS VOW TO LEARN FROM DEVASTATING LOSS

10.Sam Virgo

Excellent organiser down back. While it wasn’t her best individual AFLW season, Virgo was a huge reason behind why an inexperienced Suns defensive unit was so successful. Was a stand out against the Giants in Round 1.

CROWDLESS FOOTBALL: WHAT A GHOST GAME IS REALLY LIKE

11.Britt Perry

Started the season with a bang and was a crucial cog as the season wore on. Excellent overhead mark and executes almost every opportunity at goal. Very dangerous inside forward 50.

12.Serene Watson

Important down back and was often trusted with her ranging kick to clear the ball outside defensive 50. Was awesome against the Eagles and will keep growing with each opportunity.

13.Jordann Hickey

Was unreal down back throughout the opening few rounds in tandem with Ahrens and Pregelj before being thrown forward where she kicked one goal against the Eagles.

SUNS’ LONG JOURNEY TO FINALS SHOT

14.Tiarna Ernst

Made the move from defence to the midfield. Used her speed and gut running to link up well across the ground.

15.Paige Parker

Has a few tricks up her sleeve, most memorably selling some candy in the Suns Round 1 clash against the Giants.

16.Ellie Hampson

Missed the first game with an ankle injury before debuting against Richmond. Didn’t have her usual impact up forward but thrived when thrown down back against the Eagles.

17.Cheyenne Hammond

Tried her heart out week after week and has the potential to be extremely dangerous with her token speed.

‘MY MUM JOKES I’M GOOD AT SPORT BECAUSE I WAS BITTEN BY A SNAKE’

18.Molly Ritson

Natural footballer who boasts a big bag of tricks. Adapted well to AFLW level and will improve again with more exposure.

19.Dee Heslop

Heslop willed her way into the team for the first bounce and nailed down her spot for the entire season. Competitive and has a bright future after a promising debut season.

20.Jasmyn Hewett

Battled manfully as a backup ruck and up forward. Was outstanding in the closing minutes against the Brisbane Lions in Round 3.
