IT’S back to the future at the Broadbeach Cats.
Just a few weeks out from their season opener, Broadbeach has announced they will revert to their traditional playing guernsey worn when the club won their last premiership in 1996.
While they won’t get to don the iconic blue and white hoops for a full-length season, Broadbeach football operations manager Matt Littlechild said the club couldn’t wait to see current players create history in the guernsey that many greats battled in, week in week out.

It’s been spoken about for a long time about bringing the traditional Broadbeach jumper back,” Littlechild said.
“One of the main goals I had when I was taking over was to honour the club’s history.
“What better way to do that then honour our premiership sides by wearing the jumper the club won their senior premierships in.
“It got knocked back last season but this season with the club all coming together, it was the perfect opportunity to bring back the traditional Cats jumper.
“It wouldn’t have been possible without the club’s great sponsors and committee.
“Our seniors, reserves, colts and women’s will be wearing the hoops for 2020 and the years to come.”
Broadbeach will commence their QAFL season on July 18 due to a Round 1 bye while the women’s fixture is yet to be announced.
