Hannah Dunn details her stunning journey to the Gold Coast Suns AFLW team
Hannah Dunn was overlooked in three drafts and would routinely get home at 1am while driving huge distances to train with a former club who she helped make history with in the inaugural AFLW season. Her journey to the Suns is nothing short of amazing.

HANNAH Dunn was part of history when she played in the inaugural round of the AFLW in 2017 but it’s been a long wait to become a fully fledged player with a club.
Dunn’s journey on to the Gold Coast Suns list is one of persistence, self-belief and huge resolve.
The 28-year-old used to take on a commute of more than six hours from Canberra to Sydney and back to train with GWS, getting home around 1am, only to be overlooked by the Giants in three drafts.
Now she will get the AFLW experience she dreamt of after being taken by the Suns with pick 22 of the national draft.
“It feels really good. I was a train-on player for the Giants a couple of times but I haven’t had that full AFLW experience,” the midfield-forward said.
“Train-on players can only train once a week and doing the commute from Canberra to Sydney took its toll.

“I’m excited to hook in with the Suns.”
The four-time premiership player with the Queanbeyan Tigers, who was named best on ground in the AFL Canberra grand final this year, took a punt and shifted to South Australian to play with SANFLW side Norwood and it was her highlights reel from the league that sparked Gold Coast’s interest.
“I met with the Suns but nothing was certain until I got drafted,” Dunn said.
“I had a couple of conversations with them but I was nervous waiting until it became a done deal.”

Dunn made the move to Gold Coast two weeks ago, settling down at Miami.
Dunn began her football career in 2010 and became the first woman to reach 100 games for her local Queanbeyan in 2016. She was inducted as a playing life member of the club for the feat.
