Suns gun Callum Ah Chee has been struck down by a serious ankle injury and will miss an extended period of football.
Ah Chee will undergo surgery on his right ankle this afternoon after suffering a high-grade ankle sprain at training on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old was sent for scans following the incident, with results confirming the classy medium-sized player had sustained the injury.

“It’s really unfortunate for Cal, he had just worked his way back into the senior side after missing the early parts of the season with a quad strain,” Suns football manager Jon Haines said.
“We know how diligently Cal had worked to get back out on the field and the entire club was excited at the impact he was going to have on the team in the second half of the season.
“Cal is a highly regarded member of our playing group and he will receive all the necessary support throughout the upcoming rehabilitation process. Cal is a key part of our long term plans and we will ensure that his recovery sets him up for a strong pre-season campaign”.

It’s a huge blow to the Suns and the 181cm talent who had only just returned from injury to play his first AFL game of the season against St Kilda before the club’s bye last weekend.
Ah Chee was given time off earlier in the year to deal with a personal issue before injuring his quad.
